How Your Subconscious Mind Records Everything - And Why It Matters
One of the biggest realizations that I share with my clients is that their subconscious is always on. Think cell phone recorder always on record. Every single minute of every single day. From the moment you take your first breath to the moment you take your last breath, it is recording.
In some situations, like when you are daydreaming, driving, or sitting in a boring lecture it records and accepts, without evaluation, everything that you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell. Those commercials that stay in your head for years and years? That brand of cologne that brings back your first date in all it's glorious detail? That's why. This is why it is so important to feed your mind only those things that align to you.
Listen to a track of music in your car instead of the radio filled with ads. Unless you want that brand of toothpaste to start feeling more familiar. Yes, that's what happens. It doesn't mean you like it, it means it has been accepted by your unconscious mind, which makes it familiar to you.
However, we often mistake familiar for good or supportive. This is a very good sales tactic and method of bending behaviour into a particular direction. So, if you want to be aligned to your values and not someone else's, watch what you accept and reject and what you expose yourself when you have gone on autopilot. It is the difference between living an authentic life and living someone else's.
